Violence by the Maoists was in the news. The killing of Sunil Mahto, MP, by Maoist rebels has spread fears in Andhra Pradesh and other Naxal-hit states.

Union Home Minister has asked Naxal-affected states to reach an agreement for ensuring better coordination on intelligence to tackle the situation.

Meanwhile Jharkhand government has considered to adopt `Andhra model` in controlling Naxals.

Cauvery update:
The settlement of the Cauvery dispute now depends on the politics and not on the technical merits of the water sharing and management.
