The witnesses have refused to confirm the accuracy of witness statements given to police almost four years ago in the famous trial of Ziya Abbas.

Maldives Government claimed that a coastguard vessel has opened fire on a boat carrying suspected Tamil Tiger rebels from Sri Lanka. Maldives is investigating whether a trawler sunk by its coastguard was carrying weapons for LTTE.
