Three press workers were killed and a press office was set ablaze in Madurai. The act was an episode of the violent protests carried out by the supporters of MK Azhagiri who were angered by a survey in Dinakaran claiming that Karunandihi's second son M.K. Stalin was most suited to succeed his father as political heir.
